Peace? In the midst of this?
Setlist: I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day / Doxology
I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day
I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols played
And wild and sweet, the words repeat
Of peace on earth, goodwill to men
I thought how as the day had come
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along the unbroken song
Of peace on earth, goodwill to men
And in despair I bowed my head
There is no peace on earth, I said
For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, goodwill to men
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep
"God is not dead nor doth He sleep"
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, goodwill to men
Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost
Amen
I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day is an excerpt from the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1863 and was set to a melody written in 1848 by John Baptiste Calkin.
Doxology was written by Thomas Ken in 1674
