In this episode, System Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Adventist HealthCare, Dr. Patsy McNeil, sits down with Dr. Kashif Firozvi, Medical Director of Cancer Services at Adventist HealthCare, to explore the newest technology available onsite at Adventist HealthCare – Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
This genomic testing will be housed in an onsite lab at White Oak Cancer Center and serving patients there and Shady Grove Aquilino Cancer Center. This technology allows physicians to analyze the genetic makeup of a patient’s cancer quickly and accurately – leading to more personalized treatment, starting earlier.
Prior to bringing the testing in house, it could take anywhere from three to five weeks, now it will take about one week, cutting down on wait time for patients to receive treatment sooner.
