Recent adverse weather conditions have severely impacted both young and the elderly.

The north Leitrim area in particular bore the brunt of destructive gusts of over 130 kilometres an hour causing several trees and power lines to collapse.

It's felt more of a balance can be struck between landowners, state bodies and the government to prevent future outages.
