Listen Later

In this episode, Debbie speaks with Jacqueline Janssen, who is an author, a mental health advocate, a former NAMI director, and her family has been affected by mental illness. Jacqueline has been doing phenomenal things to advocate for families and has organized a task force in her county to discuss the support they need and what they think the treatment staff needs to learn to help parents and families support their loved one with mental illness. Jacqueline Janssen is an advocate for families affected by mental illness. As a Director on the Local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Board and Commissioner on the County Mental Health Board, she is one of the creators of the County Family Partnership Policy. Her goal is the creation and implementation of training that includes treatment, clinicians, peers, and families because evidence shows that when families are involved in recovery, outcomes are better for all. Jacqueline is also an activist for women's rights. As a nonprofit executive recruiter she and her team placed women in leadership positions. She was a Nominated Changemaker for the White House's United State of Women. Jacqueline is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and a member of the International Association of Feminist Economics (IAFFE).
