The 2nd half of 2023 was an interesting time for AEW- the company set records with their Wembley show earlier in the year but that night was also CM Punk's last working for them. By December, the roster was badly in need of reinforcements due to departures and injuries and they would be coming in the new year, in the meantime, AEW had their final pay-per-view of the year to hold- World's End. The show would host MJF's defence of the AEW Title against Samoa Joe, the final of the Continental Classic between Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston, and a no DQ match between Christian Cage and Adam Copeland.
