AFL scraps strike system for hair drug testing

The AFL is implementing a major overhaul of its illicit drugs policy, replacing urine samples with hair testing that can detect drug use from weeks or months earlier. The controversial three-strike system will be eliminated, with players no longer receiving multiple chances after testing positive. For the first time since 2017, AFLW players will be included in the testing program, with negotiations between the league and Players Association ongoing to finalise the changes.
