There is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic is going to wreak havoc politically, economically, and socially on the continent of Africa. The pandemic came at a time in which Africa was starting to see political and social change. It also came at a time when the Chinese Belt and Road initiative was starting to place Africa into a Chinese sphere of influence. Now, South Africa is accepting unprecedented loans from the IMF and there are growing issues with China’s large projects in the region.
