Time now for our regular Tuesday feature; the African Perspective, where we profile different countries on the African continent. Today the spotlight is on Sudan, once the largest and one of the most geographically diverse states in Africa, split into two countries in July 2011 after the people of the south voted for independence. Currently the country has seen continuous mass protests calling for regime change in Sudan, this despite the heavy-handed response to the demonstrations by President Omar al-Bashir's government. The protests in Sudan were triggered by high inflation following the devaluation of the Sudanese currency in October last year.
