Adapted from the 1935 novel by C.S. Forester (and famously turned into a 1951 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn), German East Africa, 1914 — At the outbreak of World War I, Rose Sayer, a prim English missionary, is left alone when her brother dies in a remote village. She is rescued by Charlie Allnut, a gruff, hard-drinking Canadian who operates a dilapidated steam launch called The African Queen.
