The protests that have erupted over the past 2 weeks in America on racism and police brutality led by the social movement, #BlackLivesMatter has shook the table on South African shores.

In recent developments, Private and Model C schools have been at the centre of allegations of racism with students, past and present, sharing their experience on social media. The institutional culture of these schools neither sought to be inclusive, adaptive nor progressive after 1994. As one post so aptly stated: "these schools believe that textbook academia, Christianity and sports make their education better ".
