The greatest pound for pound fighter in boxing history, Floyd Mayweather has announced that his next opponent for an exhibition match after the one with YouTube sensation Logan Paul today will be one of India’s biggest internet stars, KRK or Kamaal Rashid Khan.
With the Mayweather – Paul fight only hours away as this article goes live, we have received information from our sources close to KRK that both teams have agreed to the bout in principle but will need to iron out the details once Floyd Mayweather is done with this match. KRK is said to be excited and is planning to take his training quite seriously.
KRK burst into the scene in 2008 with his movie Deshdrohi which he wrote, produced, directed and also starred in. The movie was banned in Maharashtra on accounts of it inciting violence among the people in the state. Following the release of Deshdrohi, KRK proclaimed himself as a superstar and placed himself at the same level as SRK.
KRK then moved into reviewing movies 8 years ago and has claimed to be one of the most influential reviewers in India with the ability to bring down or promote a movie with his review alone. Courting controversy and getting into public spats with film stars is one of the many strategies that KRK has used to stay relevant. Recently his scathing reviews of Salman Khan movie Radhe has invited legal action from Salman Khan’s team.
Legal action has also been taken by Dhanush for derogatory casteist remarks that KRK used on him and the list is endless. KRK has openly claimed that multiple producers from Bollywood have offered him money in exchange for good reviews. He claims to be connected to a shady crowd and makes all these opinions on his YouTube channel which has over 800k subscribers.
Fighting Floyd Mayweather could just be a publicity stunt, similar to what is being done by Logan Paul. With both Mayweather and KRK open to doing anything for money, the reason to do this can be purely financial as well. KRK has reportedly approached his favourite boxers Priyanka Chopra (who played Mary Kom), Farhan Akthar (who played a boxer in Toofan) and R Madhavan (who played a boxing coach on Saala Khadoos) to help him train for the fight.
Our sources within the Mayweather camp have told us that the fight is a possibility but the legal matters and promotion of the fight could mean that it would only happen early next year. Also, the COVID19 situation around the world needs to be under control and huge crowds should be able to attend the event. The Pay-per-View rights for television networks also need to be worked out.
This fight will be extremely looked forward to in India due to the polarising personality of KRK who has fans who would die for him and also haters who would do anything to see him hurt. The elite from Bollywood is already placing booking orders for front row tickets and the event is expected to be a sold-out affair.
