Every business has a beginning, and this is mine.
On this episode of After the Appointment Podcast, we're switching things up with a one-on-one conversation as I take you behind the scenes of building The Point Salon.
Before there was a salon, a team, or a business to run, there was an idea, a passion for the beauty industry, and a journey that would eventually lead me into entrepreneurship.
In Part One of Building the Business, we're opening up the conversation about what it means to turn your passion into something bigger. From navigating the beauty industry to learning what it takes to build a business, this is the beginning of a story filled with growth, challenges, lessons, and plenty of experiences along the way.
Owning a salon is about so much more than doing hair. It's about the people, the decisions, the responsibilities, and everything that happens when the doors close at the end of the day.
This is just the beginning of the story, and there's plenty more to tell.

Episode 2 — Tony Sigmund: How Far Can You Go?
Physical therapist. Stretch therapist. Personal trainer. MMA referee. Marathon runner.
Tony Sigmund has built a life around understanding what the human body is capable of—and then testing the limits of his own.
In this episode of After the Appointment, Tony takes us through the different worlds that have shaped his career, from physical therapy and training to stepping inside the cage as an MMA referee.
Then we get into running.
What started as a passion for marathons has evolved into something much bigger, and Tony is preparing to enter an entirely different category of endurance racing: the Moab 240.
On October 9, he’ll set out to tackle 240 miles through Utah, pushing his body and mind farther than he ever has before.
We talk training, recovery, ridiculous mileage, the mentality behind endurance sports—and, of course, I ask the question the rest of us are thinking:
Why would anyone WANT to run 240 miles?! 😂
But underneath the miles is a much bigger conversation about resilience, discipline, the human body and discovering just how far you’re willing to go.

Have you ever told your hairstylist something you hadn’t even told your friends yet?
For 15 years, I’ve had a front-row seat to people’s lives. I’ve watched clients get married, have babies, change careers, experience loss, celebrate wins, navigate relationships, and sometimes completely reinvent themselves. Somewhere between the shampoo bowl and the finished style, people OPEN UP.
And the crazy part? They’ve become part of my life, too.
In Episode 1 of After the Appointment, I’m joined by my husband, Tyrell — who admittedly isn’t much of a talker, but has spent years watching all of this from the sidelines.
He’s seen clients become more than appointments on my schedule. He’s watched the relationships I’ve built behind the chair impact my life just as much as I hope I’ve impacted theirs.
And THAT is where this podcast begins.
We’re talking about the strangely intimate relationship between hairstylists, barbers and the people who sit in our chairs, why people feel comfortable telling us the things they do, and why I wanted to create a space where those conversations don’t have to end when the appointment does.
After the Appointment is where salon conversations continue. 🎙️
Not just conversations about hair — conversations about life.
Marriage. Motherhood. Careers. Family. Business. Identity. Loss. Success. Starting over. And the stories people carry with them when they walk through our doors.
This first episode is an introduction to why I created this podcast.
So whether you work behind the chair, you have a stylist or barber who knows WAY too much about your life 😂, or you just love honest conversations with real people…
Pull up a chair. We’re just getting started
