Welcome, dear listeners, to another episode of "The Mindshift Show," the podcast dedicated to empowering mid-career women and empty nest Moms to reshape their lives and mindsets for the better. I'm Pamela Bloomfield, your host and transformational life coach. Today, we're diving into a topic that is both exciting and emotional—preparing for the college send-off. As your children are about to start college in a few weeks, you might be feeling a mix of accomplishment, anxiety, and perhaps a sense of loss. This episode is for you, the incredible Moms who have nurtured, guided, and loved your children to this pivotal moment. Let's explore how to navigate this transition together.
As the college start season approaches, many of you are experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. You've spent years preparing your children for this moment, and now that it's here, it's natural to feel a bit lost. The house will be quieter, the daily routines will change, and you might find yourself wondering, "What now?"
First, let's acknowledge the accomplishment and joy you feel. Your child is embarking on a new adventure, one that you've helped them prepare for. This is a testament to your hard work, dedication, and love. Take a moment to celebrate this achievement, both theirs and yours.
But alongside the accomplishment, there's often a sense of emptiness. Let me tell you this fact. The term "empty nest" can feel quite literal. The rooms that were once filled with laughter, chatter, and activity might now seem eerily quiet. It's okay to grieve this change. It's a significant shift, and it's important to give yourself permission to feel all the emotions that come with it. Let me say that again. It's okay to give yourself permission! During the course of this transition there will be times when you'll need to remind yourself, I am allowed to feel the emotions.
Now, let's talk about the opportunities that lie ahead. This new chapter is not just about your child stepping into their future; it's also about you stepping into yours. It's a time to rediscover yourself, your passions, and your dreams. Remember, your identity is not solely defined by your role as a Mom. You are a multifaceted individual with so much to offer the world.
As a transformational life coach, I specialize in helping mid-career women and empty nest Moms like you navigate this transition. I've been an empty nester for several years, and I understand the challenges and the opportunities that come with this phase of life.
