The floodwaters washed the world clean, but they didn't eradicate sin. God has more work to do, and after the flood we see him acting like the good parent of a rebellious toddler. Some of his best parental moves are that he sets standards, makes concessions, establishes safety, preserves freedom, and wins through love.
