Rob and Lisa Brown opened the first Big Dipper Homemade Ice Cream location in downtown Palmer in May 2021. It has expanded to three locations in the Mat-Su Valley. Rob said that he knew he wanted to run a business with the whole family, but he just wasn’t sure what kind. The idea of a homemade ice cream store began on Rob’s birthday when Lisa made him German Chocolate Cake Ice Cream. Big Dippers prides itself on using Alaska Grown products whenever possible, like their number one flavor, Fireweed and Honey.
