We stay stuck when our story isn’t part of a bigger story

    Not dead – Not done

    Mess into message

All of us have flaws that can cause us to fail at living a life that counts

    Short-tempered
    Prideful
    Stubborn
    Impulsive
    Selfish
    Indecisive
    Lazy
    Abrasive
    Greedy
    Bitter
    Lustful
    Dishonest
    Immature
    Obsessive
    Hypocritical

God uses flawed people to reach a flawed world!

    PETER

    Tells Jesus to “go away
Sinks in water (lack of faith)
    Fighting over “being the greatest
    Rebukes Jesus to His face
Fell asleep when Jesus asked for help
    Cuts off soldiers ear
    Goes back to fishing
    Asks about “other disciple”
    Hypocritical people pleaser

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”

    - Luke 5:8

But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink.

Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”

    - Matthew 14:30-31

He (Jesus) asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.

    - Mark 9:33-34

Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me
    - Matthew 16:22-23

“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour?”
    - Mark 14:34 & 37

Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them.

When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
    - John 21:20-21

But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore.

    - Galatians 2:11-13

Peter’s flaws didn’t have the final say in his life
God’s grace and power had the final say in his life

    Foundation of Flaws
