Sometimes doing what God says to do can cause consequences. I would say this happens when we go against the grain of society's way of thinking and choosing to follow God's Word.  When we are living life loving Jesus we are living a life that should be going against grain, we follow what God says, and if the world isn't doing that we stay the course of Gods Word. we are supposed to go against the grain, it's what the example of Paul and Silas shows us.
