Christ didn’t carry the cross simply because it was what He was His responsibility. It was for the love of God and man, and His heart’s desire to see all brought into oneness just as He was one with the Father (John 17). Love, not responsibility, is the why of the cross of Christ. Let us bear our crosses likewise, motivated by and sustained by and with a character reformed by Love Himself.

That is not just what we are to do, but it is who we must become as God’s creation bearing His image and likeness.

Only then, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, will we begin to remember who and what and why we are.
