Sometimes freedom looks like the ending you didn’t expect.
In this episode, we analyze the tv series Tell Me Lies and Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy. In an effort to engage with media more thoughtfully, we’re cross examining themes, analyzing quotes, and studying some of our most toxic characters.
We talk:Toxic friend groups you can’t escape, shared trauma, professor/student power dynamics, when someone weaponizes your vulnerability, the “nice guy” persona, kinks, and manipulation.
We declare Wrigley MVP of our hearts.We thirst over Costa D’Angelo. (naturally) We argue that Jackson White and Penn Badgley are elite at playing men we should never trust. We want Grace Van Patten employed forever.
Both the book and the series leave us with one thing: freedom.
