This week we're skipping the guest and just telling stories. Lanny and I trade some of our favorite moments from training and racing: long runs that fell apart, races that didn't go to plan, and a few days that reminded us why we keep doing this.

Sarah is an exercise physiologist with a bachelor's and master's degree in exercise science who's passionate about helping people stay healthy and active. She's a wife, dog mom to two pups, and a self-proclaimed lowish-mileage runner who still managed to check a half marathon off the bucket list. She also coordinated the “Smith Half-Marathon,” bringing friends and family runners together for race day. Outside of work and running, you'll usually find her in a friendly—but very real—competition with her husband over who can claim the title of the better athlete.

Tyler Reasor is a husband, father of two boys, commercial banker, ultra marathon runner, and co-founder of Run Dad Run (RDR). His journey began with a commitment to lose weight, improve his health, and become a better example for his family. What started as a weight-loss journey eventually grew into a passion for endurance running and competing in ultra marathons.

That transformation helped inspire Tyler to co-found Run Dad Run, a clothing brand and growing community built for dads who refuse to stop challenging themselves. RDR is about more than running or apparel. It’s about encouraging fathers to keep setting goals, doing hard things, and showing their families what it looks like to lead by example.

For Tyler, the miles, the races, and Run Dad Run all come back to the same purpose: becoming the kind of man and father his sons can look up to.

Zach is a husband and father of two. He swam competitively in high school, then found his real love in endurance sports, transitioning into long-distance running and cycling. He’s a member of Run Dad Run and co-hosts the Age Groupers podcast.

Lanny Hall is a husband, dad of three, amateur ultra runner, and co-founder of Run Dad Run. Like a lot of everyday dads, Lanny didn’t grow up thinking he’d be running ultras one day. His journey started from the couch and slowly turned into a lifestyle built around running, family, faith, and proving that hard things are possible.

Through his story, Lanny hopes to show other average people, especially busy dads, that you don’t have to be elite to chase big goals. You just have to start, keep showing up, and find a way to make the hard stuff kind of fun along the way.
