At any given time, 400,000 children in the United States are in foster care.

Their reasons for being in the system can include abuse, neglect or abandonment.

Children typically age out of the system at age 18, though some states allow them to remain until 21, or in some cases 26.

We’re talking about the foster care system and the challenges young people face when they age out of the system.

Ohio offers a Bridges program to help young adults with the transition from foster care to being an independent adult.
