When we do things we know we shouldn't, when we try to do good and can't, and when our actions don't reflect our best intentions, we like to make excuses. Maybe we'll explain how it wasn't really our fault. Maybe we'll blame the Devil. Maybe we'll just back out and claim we never really meant to make it happen.
Excuses might make us feel better in the moment, but change--good, righteous, permanent change--can only spring from accountability.
