Why is it that sometimes our giving is not received? It seems that often our giving can be connected to other feelings. We give with resentment, guilt, pity or with strings attached. I give to you but only because I expect you to return the giving. All of these feelings get in the way of pure giving or ahavas chinam which can account for why my giving is not having the impact it should have.
