Apple is relocating manufacturing from Mexico to the U.S., Shein is under pressure to reduce its valuation, and Google has priced its Veo 2 AI video model at $0.50 per second of generated video. OpenAI is expected to see a significant revenue increase in 2025, and Alibaba has committed to investing $53 billion in AI infrastructure over the next three years.Moving on, companies are facing pressure from activist shareholders regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. Some companies like Citigroup, Meta, PepsiCo, and Target have scaled back their DEI initiatives, sparking backlash. The Conference Board anticipates heightened pressure on boards in the 2025 proxy season, particularly in DEI and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas. Despite dropping the DEI label due to political connotations, many companies remain dedicated to diversity and sustainability efforts. Shareholder activist Andrew Behar believes that companies are holding firm on their DEI policies as data shows that greater diversity leads to financial outperformance. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang thinks investors may have overreacted to the impact of Chinese AI company DeepSeek on NVIDIA's products. Overall, companies continue to face challenges in balancing shareholder interests with long-term business goals amidst mounting pressure on DEI and ESG issues.
