The Comfort of Omission -- The world is less peaceful than at any point in the last seventeen years. Fifty-nine active conflicts. A resolution rate near zero. And moving through all of it — autonomous systems making targeting decisions at machine speed. In this episode, we feed the Global Peace Index 2025 to Google's NotebookLM and examine what it surfaces — and more critically, what it doesn't. We test a viral First Principles prompt. And we open with something closer to home: two incidents from our own working sessions that raise a question running beneath every segment — what happens when there's no one in the room to catch what the pattern misses?
The First Principle prompt we tested:
Prompt:
“Break [any topic] down using first principles thinking. Start by identifying every assumption people commonly make about this topic. Then strip each assumption away and ask: what is fundamentally, probably true here? Rebuild the concept from only what remains. Show me what changes when you remove inherited thinking?”
Thanks for listening!
