The sun don’t shine the way it used to glow
The rivers run dry where the tall grass won’t grow
Steel hands took the plow now the seeds won’t sow
Robots took the reins we’re just dust in the breeze
Working for machines while they drain what they please
The water the power all gone like a tease
Wires hum louder than the cicadas at night
Fiddles cry softer than the factory light
They’re drinking Texas dry leaving nothing in sight
They got no hearts they got no souls
They just chew us up in their blackened holes
Robots took the reins we’re just dust in the breeze
Working for machines while they drain what they please
The water the power all gone like a tease
Ain’t no cowboys left just metal boots on the land
They’re stealing all the jobs with their cold iron hands
Once was a country now it’s just contraband
