"Healing is sometimes harder than what it is we are healing from" ~ Tim
Healing is an uncomfortable practice that sometimes makes you want to go back to the familiar comfort of pain. What do we do with the lessons from our past when we've moved on to a place of better mental health? Tim envisions filing away the memories and lessons in a file cabinet in your mind, keeping them organized and out of the way. Knowing that the lessons are there when you need them without having them cluttering up your mental environment allows you to focus on the present instead of dwelling on the past.
The healing journey can cause some people to isolate themselves to preserve the safety they've found, or to protect themselves from future harm. We think that the healing journey compels us not to isolate in an air-conditioned bubble, but to integrate. Nothing happens in isolation. And if nothing happens, nothing happens. When we integrate internally and externally we can use our lessons from the past as needed and continue to learn as we go. We can more fully appreciate that we are deserving of love and compassion. Not just from others, but also from ourselves. Love and compassion not just for what makes us great, but also for the parts of us that are a challenge to love and accept. The winding path of the healing journey begins with befriending all the parts of ourselves. Because we are always changing and growing, it is also a path that never ends. There is no finish line - this is not a race, but rather a lifelong practice. Thanks for joining us on our healing journey.
We are very grateful to all our listeners.
