Alejandra Ramos

Listen Later

The Hidden Cube Podcast is happy to present Alejandra Ramos in this weeks episode. Ale Ramos is an artist who currently lives and works in Provo, Ut. Ramos is a recent graduate from Brigham Young University with a BFA in Fine Arts. We have a conversation with Ale Ramos about her recent show Finding Memory, which was displayed in the BF Larsen Gallery at BYU. We also discuss the role of film and photography in art, Ramos’s recent trip, and her future plans.
“Alejandra Ramos uses video and photography to make works about the overlapping of dreams and memory. She adds installation to create an atmospheric presence. Each video portrays surreal settings, fluid movement, and soft lighting to create intimate interactions between subjects and objects. Alejandra draws from her Central American heritage, which emphasizes the superstition of dreams. She believes her inability to distinguish dream from conscious memory is a collective frustration. In response to her discontent, Alejandra uses abstracted imagery and ambiguous settings to highlight how dreams and memory lack clarity, certainty, and reality.”
