Alessandra Bester is the founder of The Functional Foods Company which produces nutrient dense foods in the form of truffles and other snacks. Alessandra talks to us today on the first of two podcasts about her life as a young girl, her life as a competitive triathlete, how she was paralysed from the waist down while throwing a discus, how she was diagnosed with cancer and her life with her autistic son, Ethan. Her story is inspiring from the very beginning and we cover many aspects of it in this show. We talk about her view on autism and why it occurs. How it is NOT a disability and can be managed better to improve the lives of the children and parents. Her view is that Ethan has autism, not that he is autistic. What steps parents can take to make things better and how she started a company to make functional foods which are made by people in the autistic spectrum for people on the spectrum, as I said, an inspiring story from start to finish!
