There are many stereotypes and prejudices that have held the world back over the centuries and today’s guest is leading the way to break out of many of those in the younger generation that is rising up to make an impact on the world. Alex Echols  has build a career in his short life out of encouraging people to be themselves and add their unique brand of personality and contribution to the world for the good of all people. In this episode David chats with Alex about the book he’s co-authored, the impact it’s having on the generation he comes from, and how everyone can move their lives forward to make the world a better place. It’s a conversation from the heart and full of enthusiasm that you’re really going to enjoy.

Growing up in inner city Chicago in a supportive family set him up for success.

Anytime Alex Echols tells the story of his growing up years you’ll hear the details of living in a very poor neighborhood that had all kinds of problems. But you’ll also hear about a loving and supportive family that gave him every chance in life. He’s the kind of person who takes the fullest advantage of those kinds of opportunities and makes the most of them. That’s why, at 27 years of age, he’s co-author of a best-selling book and is working to position himself to have a huge impact on an entire generation of people. He says for him, it’s not about money or success, it’s about making a difference in the world, helping people discover and live the lives they were meant to live. You’ll enjoy the enthusiasm Alex shares on this episode of Crank It Up.

It’s hard to get practical help from people who are 5000 miles ahead of you…

That’s why Alex Echols and his co-authors did their best to write their book, “The Two-Week Notice” from a perspective of somebody who’s just stepping into the entrepreneurial world. They want to help people who don’t even know where to start get started, with practical tools and tips to set them on the right path. He desires to show people how he’s achieved the things he has, share the learning he’s experienced on the way, and encourage them to develop their own path and story to share with others in return. It’s a very successful philosophy that’s led to a best-selling book and many opportunities to come alongside people who are ready to apply it to their lives.

It’s been said a lot before… but it’s still true. Start with your “why.”

Alex Echols believes that nobody will be able to establish a business or lifestyle that they are able to fuel over the long haul if they don’t know the “why” behind what they’re doing. It’s the “why” that keeps you rolling when hard times come. It’s the “why” that motivates you to overcome obstacles and push through the barriers that stand in the way of seeing your dreams come to fruition. It’s the “why” that pushes you to work hard every day, to remain on task, and to see that your efforts are not being wasted on social media or in other pointless pursuits. In this episode Alex shares his own “why” as an example and encourages others to develop their own set of motivations that help them create more for themselves than they’ve ever known.

Be careful that you don’t get so focused on structure and goals that you miss life.

It’s great to have goals and to work toward them. Alex Echols is the first to tell you that. But he’s also quick to caution that a fixation on goals, timelines, and plans can cause you to slip out of the flow of life that is going on around you in the present moment. You need to let go of the planning and pursuit of things from time to time to breathe in the blessings and vitality of life as it is in the moment. You need to enjoy life here and now, before the goals are achieved and before the dreams are realized. That will set you up to fully appreciate the entire journey to those places and make you better able to help others as they come behind you on their own journey. Alex has lots to share on this episode,
