It was supposed to be the culmination of the first few years of Colin Farrell's career: playing one of the most famous people of all time in a sweeping epic directed by one of the most acclaimed directors of the era. Yet rather than a smash hit that catapulted Colin towards Oscar glory, we are left with a six-time Razzie nominated disaster that almost completely killed his career as a leading man. That's right, this week we're talking Oliver Stone's Alexander, and we mostly have questions, such as: Does Colin manage to wrangle a good performance out of the material here? What's the deal with all the different cuts? Why is this movie so blasé about Alexander's homosexuality? What movie are Val Kilmer and Angelina Jolie in? Is Oliver Stone a great director or just someone who has made great movies? And most importantly, what is even the point of this movie? Connor is ride or die for Todd Haynes.
