The YANApodcast with NAMI Philly

Alexandra's Story

Listen Later

Alexandra spent 7 years earning her PhD in Biology where she studied soil microbes in a climate change experiment.  This roller coaster experience included extreme highs, such as incredible adventures throughout Asia, as well as extreme lows, such as chronic and crippling depression. Since graduating she has combined her love of science, teaching and writing as a critical writing professor. She is passionate about teaching people of all ages how to find their voice by conscientiously crafting their words. In her undergraduate classes students have written about everything from artificial intelligence and social justice to microbes and mental health.
