In November of 2018, Daybreak was on the road to Fort Macleod for an evening at the Empress Theatre and as part of the night, new Alberta books were part of the discussion. Some folks thought it might be fun if the town had it's own book festival and after a year of planning, the "Get Lit Literary Festival" is a go for Saturday, November 16. Participating in the first year will Sid Marty from the Crowsnest Pass, Fran Kimmel from Lacombe, Kevin Allen from Calgary, as well as award-winning author, Ali Bryan. Se was also short-listed for the Leacock Medal for Humour, for her Calgary family drama, the novel about a family called The Figgs. Russell caught up with Ali to chat about the praise the book has received.
