Lately, I've been thinking a lot about summer, both for posts here on Hive and in general, as extreme temperatures have been worse this year in many parts of the world. I was thinking about how certain corporations or powerful people often manipulate the climate; it's incredible. We can do our bit, but the global changes they make are severe.

But I was also thinking about what summer means to me, a harmonious and beautiful summer, one that can be fully enjoyed. And several images came to mind, including flowers, water, the sea, radiant and varied colours, the sounds of birds, the sun in a beautiful sunset, palm trees, the warmth of the atmosphere, and I wondered how an extraterrestrial, an alien, would experience a summer like that here on Earth. Perhaps they would be very happy and reveal part of their face... I was thinking about these things when I said to myself, it would be nice to capture it in a full-colour design with lots of summer flowers, an alien summer.

The design is made up of eight copyright-free images and developed in 18 layers in Photoshop CS6 without using AI.

To create the background, I used two images of the sea, one of which I wanted to be a sunset. On top of the first image of the sea with blue colours, I placed the sunset in two layers with focal light and darken blends, and then I created another layer of the first image, placed it on top and applied a focal light blend. This allows me to have more colourful sky for the background. Then I used the image of the palm trees, after deleting the background, placed them on two layers and, turning one horizontally, placed them on both sides of the design with an overlay blend.

Then I worked on the woman's face in three layers, after deleting the background, with a layer mask to blend it with the background, the sand, and the blends I used are focal light, darker colour and normal.

I selected the daisies and placed them in three layers, mainly at the bottom of the design with a focal light blend.

I continued working below the daisy layers, which would remain in the upper layers of the design. I selected the poppies and placed them over the woman's face in two layers, covering one of her eyes. Then I selected that eye in the woman's layer, copied it, pasted it, and placed it on top of the poppies with normal blending.

I selected the last flower I had left and placed it in two layers on the other side of the design with darker and lighter colour blends.

Finally, I worked on the alien's face, which I placed in a single layer between the poppies and the last flower, erasing certain parts with the eraser tool and softening the edges. That way, I blended it with the woman's face.

The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast.

Últimamente he estado pensando mucho en el verano, ya sea para publicaciones aquí en Hive como en general, como hay temperaturas extremas que han sido peores este año en muchas partes del mundo. Pensaba en como manipulan muchas veces el clima ciertas corporaciones o gente poderosa, es increíble. Podemos poner nuestro granito de arena, pero los cambios a nivel mundial que ellos realizan son severos.

Pero también pensaba en lo que para mí significa el verano, el verano armonioso y hermoso, uno que se puede disfrutar plenamente. Y en mi mente aparecieron varias imágenes, dentro de ellas flores, agua, el mar, colores radiantes y variados, sonidos de pájaros, el sol en un hermoso atardecer, las palmeras, la calidez de un ambiente y me preguntaba como viviría un extraterrestre, un alien, aquí en la tierra un verano de ese tipo. Quizá estaría muy feliz y dejaría ver parte de su rostro... en esas cosas pensaba cuando me dije, sería bueno plasmarlo en un diseño a todo color y con muchas flores de verano, un verano alien.

El diseño esta realizado con ocho imágenes sin derechos de autor, y desarrollado en 18 capas dentro del programa Photoshop CS6 sin usar IA.

Para realizar el fondo usé dos imágenes de mar, una de ellas quería que fuera de un atardecer. Sobre la primera imagen de mar con colores azules coloqué el atardecer en dos capas con fusiones de luz focal y oscurecer y luego cree otra capa de la primera imagen, la puse arriba y le puse fusión de luz focal. Esto me permite tener más colorido del cielo para el fondo. Luego usé la imagen de las palmeras, previo borrado del fondo, las coloqué en dos capas y volteando una horizontalmente las puse a ambos lados del diseño con fusión de superponer.

Luego trabajé el rostro de la mujer en tres capas, previo borrado del fondo, con una máscara de capa para fusionarla con el el fondo, la arena, y las fusiones que usé son luz focal, color más oscuro y normal.

Seleccioné las margaritas y en tres capas las coloqué sobre todo en la parte de abajo del diseño con fusión de luz focal.

Seguí el trabajo debajo de las capas de las margaritas, éstas quedarían en las capas superiores del diseño. Seleccioné las amapolas y las puse sobre el rostro de la mujer, en dos capas, tapando uno de los ojos. Luego seleccioné ese ojo en la capa de la mujer, copié, pegué y lo puse encima de las amapolas con fusión normal.

Seleccioné la última flor que me quedaba y en dos capas la coloqué del otro lado del diseño con fusiones de color más oscuro y color más claro.

Finalmente trabajé el rostro del alien que coloqué en una sola capa entre las amapolas y la última flor, borrando ciertas partes con la herramienta borrador y los bordes suavizados. De esa manera la fusioné con el rostro de la mujer.

La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste.
