Alienation

Listen Later

Alienation is the 6th song off of the Genesis album, but it was actually the 2nd song I created at the start of the project, it was called, “Space Level”. I wanted this song to sound like you were stranded on an extra terrestrial ship, but these aliens were just goofy and really wanted you to like them so they would’t feel so lonely, hence the double entendre song title. It’s funny how we can sometimes feel so lonely and alien in a world that is filled with people who are just like us. I can imagine aliens looking down and feeling sorry for humans, but at the same time are lonely themselves. I wonder if machines will ever completely fill the gap of human loneliness since we use them so often to escape our reality just to look for something or someone who truly understands and accepts us. These are just some of the topics my book explores…
At the time I created this track I didn’t have any instruments on me, but I was determined to make music, even if I had to create random noises using note generators and drawing in drum patterns by hand with a mouse, which is how this song was first came about. If you listen to the original version on Demo Days it sounds pretty redundant and nothing happens. It wasn’t until I circled back around after completing all of the other songs that I gave this song a little bit of a upgrade. I did not like this song for a long time and even dreaded to work on it in the finalizing phase, but listening to the song now I absolutely love it, especially at the break in the middle. I am so glad I had the patience to see this song through and develop it into something that made me proud, I would assume that there’s a moral in this some where.
