North West Cancer Research (NWCR) are an independent charity dedicated to putting our region’s cancer needs first, funding pioneering research, education and information to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer. Alistair Richards is the CEO.
They focus on the types of cancer that affect people living across North West England and North Wales the most. This region experiences much higher levels of cancer cases than the national average would suggest and some cancer types are much more common than they should be.
NWCR have funded more than £45m of cancer research projects since 2000 and they support hundreds of clinicians, doctors and students in the fields of basic, translational and clinical research. To this they have added information, education and outreach work to help local communities make the best decisions for their future health.
