The original idea for waterslides came from the Midwest, when Minnesota resident Herbert Sellner built a wooden structure that emptied into water. In 1923, it was called the Water-Toboggan Slide. Herbert later invented the beloved carnival ride known as the Tilt-A-Whirl. This guy knew how to have fun.
