"Amateur" doesn't mean "beginner," although it could refer to that. "Amateur" means "lover." As opposed to a professional who does the thing for payment, an amateur does the thing because he loves it. Yes, some Christians should be Professional Academics. But, all Christians should be Amateur Academics.
