All Eyes On Me - S1E2

Listen Later

Today, we are talking about Philippians 1:6. This New Testament book was originally a letter written to the church in Philippi and we want to practice how to look at this verse within the broader context.

Looking for more perspective on reading the Bible through a different cultural lens? One book you can start with is Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes.

Here are some of the every day resources I use to dive deeper into the Bible:

A Study Bible: My translation is this New Living Translation, which has been helpful for me the last ten years in learning to read the Bible.

Youversion Bible: This app is a quick, easy way to read a section in different translations. Sometimes I read a verse in NLT, NIV, ESV, AMP, and The Message to see it from a few different angles and try to understand what is being communicated.

Blue Letter Bible: This website/app is free and full of commentaries, cross references, definitions of root words, and more - it's a great resource for exploring a section of Scripture more in depth.

My recommendation is to read a passage without resources at first, praying and talking to God about help to understand. After that, there are a lot of resources out there!
