The gospel is preached using the story of the rich young ruler recorded in Mark 10:17-27.  The young ruler came running to Jesus, kneeled to Jesus, and prayed to Jesus, yet remained unsaved because he would not forsake all that he had.  Even today salvation is not in the running to Jesus, kneeling before him, or praying to him.  True belief means forsaking all that one has or is.  True belief, saving belief, requires all.  The gospel we preach is an all or nothing gospel.
