It's episode 16, and Dave and Jess are finally reviewing a movie that was nominated for Best Picture in the 2023 Academy Awards - All Quiet on the Western Front, which is available on Netflix, and which they paired with a Sidecar cocktail.   

They normally go for lighter fare on their date nights - how does a dramatic war film go over with the couple?  They have a lot of thoughts about the film, how it stands as a Best Picture nominee against their favorite film (Everything Everywhere All At Once), and whether it makes for a good date night viewing. 

Other topics of conversation include the most boring books read as a part of a school curriculum, a discussion of whether subtitles or dubbing is better in foreign films, and how this movie stacks up against other war movies such as The Best Years of Our Lives, Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, 1917, and Dunkirk.
