For the first time in a long time, street racing in coming to Christchurch. 

The Christchurch Street Sprint is taking place early 2025 at the Waterloo business park in Hornby. 

Tim Lonsdale, a member of the organising committee, joined Lesley Murdoch for a chat about the event.

The Mainland Pouākai are taking on the Tokomanawa Queens this weekend, angling for a coveted spot in the Tauihi National Basketball league playoffs.

The sudden news of a ban on greyhound racing has not been well received by those in the industry. 

Minister for Racing Winston Peters revealed earlier this week that the sport will be wound up over the course of the next 20 months, taking the industry by surprise.  

Adam Jenkins has been involved in the sport for over two decades, and is asking fellow trainers as well as the public to stand up and fight against the directive.

Canterbury golfer Momoka Kabori is home for a well-earned break after a busy year playing in the European Women's Golf Tour.  

In association with The Elmwood Trading Company, Kabori spoke with Lesley about her second year on the tour, the things she’s learned about herself and playing professional golf for a living.  

Plus, she gave her highlights from finishing second at both the South African and Indian Opens, and finishing the year in 26th place in the Order of Merit.

The word legend is used all too often these days, however there is no doubt Kay O'Reilly earned the title. 

Kay gave a lifetime of service to sport and teaching, particularly netball, coaching and mentoring thousands of girls and women in the art of the game and life. 

Sadly, Kay passed away peacefully in the company of her family in New Plymouth earlier this month. 

Lesley spoke with long-time friend of Kay, Adrienne Hayes about her contribution.
