As of this past Wednesday(November 7, 2018), we are now in a 2-week microseason known as li dong (立冬, the beginning of winter). It's that time of the year in Taiwan when people partake in foods that will help them prepare their bodies for the cold of winter. But when do you do this? And how?
TODAY'S MENU: In our first course, we’ll tell you about some of the foods that are used to get your body ready for the winter. In our second course we’re going to tell you all about the popular Chinese medicine (and food ingredient) GINSENG. Did you know that the word “ginseng” came about because the root looks like a Chinese character?! And in our third and final course, we’ll be sampling a restorative ginseng-based chicken soup, the perfect way to ease your way into the cold weather!
