Is music just music, or is there a deeper spiritual layer to it? My guest—Joel Brim—spent the majority of his life in the heavy and death metal scene, eventually becoming a guitarist and the lead singer of a band. He detailed the influence that metal music had on his life, and it turns out that the demons on the cover art aren’t just art after all.

—Timeline Explanation—

From my conversation with Majed, this is how I understand the timeline to be. Majed said that he was shocked by the persecution in his last year of law school. He meant in the first. He entered law school early at 17, studied the Bible for a year, and became a Christian at 18. Over the next 3 years, they built up the underground organization, and in 1998, when he was 21, he was arrested.
