Publisher's Summary:
In the long hot summer of '88, the author packed up his motorcycle and pulled out of the garage with no destination or return date in mind. The year 1988 would prove to be the worst drought since the dustbowl of the 1930s. Yellowstone would burn, Ronald Reagan would shake his fist at the Evil Empire, and the author, oblivious to it all, hit the road and never looked back. That trip would consume the entire summer, logging over 12,000 miles from sea to sea and back. Alone in the Wind is the account of that trip.

A great travel adventure story, told in a modern "Steinbeck" kind of way. Well done!
This is a great traveling book story. Almost everyone can identify with a "road trip" and this is one of the ultimate ones. Since I have been to all or many of the places and remember my own feelings and good times (and not so good). It is great for the detail and descriptions of the location, the weather and the situation. Easy to put yourself into the authors boots. Also, the decisions the author makes are not without the normal internal tormenting, should I or shouldn't I.
An easy read which is great for bringing everyone back in touch with their own "wanderlust".
Highly recommend.
It also rekindles the spirit for new adventures!!!!
Well done.
Fantastic Journey of Discovery!
Anyone who cherishes the imagery of searching for freedom through a road trip will love this story. Ride along with Chuck on his motorcycle exploring the open road as he travels cross country to discover many things, including himself.
Even if you've never ridden a motorcycle, you will enjoy Chuck's adventure through his vivid descriptions of the grandeur and spirit of some of America's greatest natural resources--our National Parks.
You too might find, as Chuck did, that people are "transformed gradually by the sum of their experiences and learning."
Thanks for taking me on your journey.
New coloring book
Was so tickled to see my own personal Scout in the book.. but almost gray-scale with some of the photos. Somewhat busy looking. Maybe using smaller lines would help tone it down a little bit.
Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure
Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. Being a biker from south Jersey and having logged thousands of miles I can relate. I will be recommending this to my friends. Very well written and easy to read. Made me want to pack the bike and hit the road. Thank you Charles.
Good Ride; Good Read
I'm a fan of bike trips and this was well written and engaging. You always want to learn more about the person and people, rather than just the mechanics of riding a motorcycle.
