Once Upon a Cancer

Alone (short poem)

Listen Later

You're alone with your thoughts or so it seems

But then there are all these faces of people some you may know

A crowd, everyone saying something different

You're trying to listen

But you don’t hear anything

Just a noise

Then they're all gone

Alone again

Time passes like small grains of sand through a hole

Never coming back

Your life one piece at a time disappearing

That’s no different for everyone

Ask yourself

Is it different from yesterday now that you have Cancer?

Think about your thoughts, they're important

Every day from now on you're alive until your not

So living is more important than it’s ever been

You have the advantage, you should know that

Make a change small or big, your choice

I did and I have no regrets

Oh and don’t think about how many grains of life you have left

No one knows the answer

OK, well don’t just stand there

You're alone, get on with it

You make it count, you hear?
