🎙 Guest: Hans Liang, Managing Partner & Co-Founder, Unity Investments
🎙 Host: Alvin Fan, CEO, OPIM
After the main interview ended, we kept the cameras rolling for a more personal conversation.
"People think manifestation is just about vision and belief. But building something real? It’s like chewing glass. It hurts your pride, your ego. You finish your humility in the first day… and then you have to keep going."
Hans Liang, Yale graduate and CIO & Co-founder of Unity Investments, opens up about the difference in mindset between inherited and earned wealth. Coming from a lower middle class background, Hans shares how getting into Yale on a full-ride financial aid, working through school, and later building his own firm shaped the way he carries himself — especially when dealing with family offices.
He reflects on imposter syndrome, the emotional cost of entrepreneurship, and why the journey of building something from scratch forces a level of self-discovery that most people never experience.
This is the unfiltered, extended conversation that didn’t make it into the main episode.
