Alphonso Amos is an individual that is committed to working for social justice and improving the quality of life for all. He is the Program Director of StreetWise Partners Michigan, where he is responsible for overseeing regional program administration, strategic partnerships, advocacy, and development. Alphonso also serves as a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) NextGen Fellow, and as the Executive Director and Lead Organizer of Black Lives Matter, Port Huron an affiliate of Black Lives Matter Michigan.
Concurrently, he also has led the work of AAmos Consulting Group, his consultancy that specializes in nonprofit strategy, DEI strategy and capacity building, grant writing, program development, event management, fundraising. He is a passionate advocate for youth and young adults, believing strongly in the power of mentoring, volunteerism, and service.
He is the past president and current youth advisor of the Port Huron Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Amos also served in public office as a member of the Port Huron City Council. In addition to his service in public office, he has also served on the Michigan Municipal League Energy, Environment, & Technology Policy Committee as a member, and is a member of the People for the American Way Young Elected Officials Network, and the Young Elected Officials Black Caucus. Alphonso is also an alumnus of the Young People For Social Justice Fellowship and a YP4 alumni mentor. His life mission is to be the change that he wishes to see in the world.
