I know Jasmine as my sister. Her college friends knew her in a chapter of life I didn’t get to see every day.
In this episode, I sit down with them to hear the memories they still hold and the stories they want people to know about her. Hearing someone else speak your loved one’s name and remember who they were is a gift that’s hard to put into words.
I’m grateful they shared this part of Jasmine with me. I hope you’ll listen and get to know her through their eyes, too. ❤️

Demetrius Jackson is the father of sickle cell warrior Demetria Jackson, who previously appeared on the podcast. Mr. Jackson is a U.S. Army veteran, businessman, entrepreneur, Lean Six Sigma implementer, and a carrier of the sickle cell trait.
His mission is to raise awareness about the disparities, lack of knowledge, and inadequate care surrounding sickle cell disease. In this episode, we discuss the importance of patients with sickle cell disease carrying a medical identification bracelet or card containing their hematologist’s contact information. Having this information readily available may help emergency room personnel better understand the patient’s condition and coordinate appropriate care.
