Cynthia Schreiner Smith, co-author of Alvin Karpis and the Barker Gang in Minnesota, returns to tell us the stories of the William Hamm & Edward Bremer kidnappings - which terrorized and thrilled Saint Paul in the mid-1930's! Both the Hamm's and Schmidt's breweries were cranking out beer after prohibition ended, making their wealthy owners prime targets for kidnapping. Alvin Karpis and the Barker gang pulled off both kidnappings, collected the ransom money, and almost got away with it!
